Owensboro legend Rex Chapman will be the guest speaker for Thursday’s Remote Rooster Booster hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.
The event, sponsored by the Greater Owensboro Realtor Association, will begin at 7:30 a.m.
There is no cost to attend the virtual Rooster Booster. Those interested join via Facebook Live @gochamber or register to attend via Zoom. Zoom registrants will be emailed an access link and instructions.
Chapman is an Apollo High School graduate that went on to play for the University of Kentucky. Chapman entered the NBA draft after his sophomore year at UK and went on to play for 12 years in the pros for the Charlotte Hornets, Washington Bullets, Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns.
At the age of 32, with the anticipation of retiring at the end of the year, Chapman had to have an emergency appendectomy.
After the appendectomy, a doctor wrote him a prescription for Oxycontin. He became addicted to painkillers and entered rehab three times, and he eventually faced a devastating arrest before finding recovery.
Chapman has been clean for about six years now. He now focuses his time on being a dad, basketball analyst and an active social media user with a large following.
