Gas line cut in western Daviess County, hundreds without gas

An Atmos Energy gas line that was cut in western Daviess County is expected to leave several hundred residents in the Sorgho and Stanley areas without gas through Friday, according to multiple agencies.

A 9:15 p.m. update on Twitter from Kay Coomes, Manager of Public Affairs at Atmos Energy, reads:

Atmos Energy crews will make repairs tonight, but natural gas service will not be restored to customers home until tomorrow.

According to an 8:25 p.m. Facebook post by Daviess County Emergency Management Agency:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Atmos Energy has reported a cut gas line serving approximately 600 customers in the Whispering Meadow/Sorgho area. Residents in that area should expect to be without service for the next 18-24hrs. Crews are working to resolve the problem and restore service.

According to a 7:57 p.m. Facebook post by Airport Sorgho Fire Department:

We are aware of a large gas outage affecting western Daviess County, including the Sorgho and Stanley areas. We have spoken to Atmos and they are actively working on repairing a gas line at this time. We do not have any information on how long this may take.
