A virtual public hearing will be today, in part providing an open forum for comment concerning housing and Community Development needs and proposed projects in Owensboro for the City’s 2021-2022 Annual Action Plan.

Additionally, an update will be provided on 2020-2021 Community Development activities, and information will be provided on eligible and ineligible Community
Development Block Grant activities and the estimated amount of funds available during the 2021-2022 program year.

The hearing will be held via the City of Owensboro’s Facebook Page at 3 p.m.

According to Community Development Director Abby Shelton, two public hearings are conducted before recommendations are presented to the Owensboro Board of Commissioners for approval to submit to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Shelton said her department had received a lot of support and feedback from the community regarding the consolidated plan for the Northwest Revitalization Strategy Area (NRSA) Plan — which was passed last year — and the annual action plan.

Shelton said the public can comment on the live feed or email her with questions at [email protected], or they can send in written comments to City Hall.

This public hearing kicks of a public comment period that will run March 1-April 5.

“All of this input will be considered as part of the public process and incorporated into the Annual Action Plan for 2021-2022,” Shelton said.
