A woman from Indiana died in a collision involving a semi truck and an SUV that occurred Friday afternoon in the 7100 block of KY 81, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification. (Owensboro Times has chosen not to release the hometown and age of the victim at this time in accordance with our Widmer Rule.)

The driver of the second vehicle, 53-year-old Luther Mincy of Rumsey, was uninjured.

According to a release, first response crews were dispatched to a fatal collision at approximately 5:13 p.m.

According to DCSO, analysis of the scene thus far indicates that a Nutrien Ag Solutions semi truck and trailer were traveling south on KY 81 when an SUV pulled out into the path of the semi. The semi struck the SUV and pushed it for approximately 200 feet before overturning onto the SUV. A chute from the semi trailer also struck a stationary vehicle just off the roadway and a large amount of fertilizer and diesel fuel were spilled.

Daviess County Emergency Management Agency responded to monitor environmental impact.

According to DCSO, all drivers appear to have been wearing seatbelts at the time and alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor at this time.

In addition to DCSO, crews responding included the Moseleyville, Airport-Sorgho, and West Daviess County fire departments as well as AMR.

The investigation is ongoing.
