A total of 20 students will represent local high schools at the 2021 Governor’s Scholars Program, Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs and Governor’s School for the Arts. There are 16 students from Daviess County Public Schools, three from Owensboro Public Schools and one from Owensboro Catholic Schools.

The Governor’s Scholars Program is a five-week, residential summer program for Kentucky’s most outstanding students as they complete their junior year of high school. This program provides academic and leadership growth in a challenging, non-traditional experience that balances a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience.

During the three-week Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs, students will develop a business model, design a prototype and pitch their startup ideas to a panel of judges. GSE teaches the opportunities, benefits and challenges of developing a business concept from the idea phase to attracting potential investors.

The Governor’s School for the Arts provides intensive instruction for talented high school students in the areas of dance, drama, instrumental and vocal music, creative writing, architecture and visual arts. Students will have the opportunity to audition for scholarships for the nation’s top colleges and universities.
