The Owensboro RiverDawgs carried their momentum from a victory in their home opener on Saturday with an 11-1 drumming of Muhlenberg County on Sunday at Independence Bank Field.

Owensboro scored three in the bottom of the third for the only lead they’d need against the Stallions. The RiverDawgs were up 5-0 before they put up six in the bottom of the eighth.

Preston Cottrell earned the win as he went five innings and struck out three while allowing just two hits. Since their pitching struggles in the season opener, RiverDawg starters have allowed just three hits in the last two games.

Derric Jeffers led Owensboro at the plate as he went 3-3 with an RBI and two runs. Steven Diaz also had multiple hits with his two singles but he also added an RBI and three runs.

Eight RiverDawgs finished with at least one hit, one RBI and a run.

Owensboro plays at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Madisonville against the Miners.
