Owensboro Family YMCA announced they are temporarily closing their summer camp due to a COVID-19 exposure.

The camp will be closed from July 15-23. Since the camp is primarily on their second floor and playground areas, they will be deep cleaning the frequented areas.

While the camp is closed, YMCA officials said the closure will only affect the camp program as all other YMCA programs and services will continue as scheduled.

Green River Health Department is partnering with YMCA to carry out all safety precautions and identify those deemed close contact with the infected individual.

“We deeply regret the inconvenience for our kids and families. Despite precautions, this disease is still active, and we are praying for the quick recovery of any affected by COVID and for parents challenged with childcare needs during this time,” President and CEO John Alexander said.
