Noble Roman’s Pizza was all the rave in Owensboro in the ’90s, with locations at Towne Square Mall and Wesleyan Park Plaza. After a lengthy hiatus, the pizza joint has made its grand return by way of the Masonville Food Mart.
The gas station and food mart owner, Pintu Patel, was adamant about bringing the perfect pizza to his customers. He embarked on a search that lasted nearly 6 months before finding and tasting the “perfect pizza.”
“I knew I wanted to sell pizza, so I was trying to look and find something new,” Patel said. “My son has a location in another state, so I tried it for the first time; it was good. I began to do some research online and looked into buying the franchise.”
Patel said he was amazed at how the pizza could maintain its freshness even after sitting in a warmer for 1-2 hours.
“It was still fresh — at that point, I knew I had to go for it,” he said. “The crust was so soft and wasn’t chewy like most pizza gets. The wait was definitely worth it.”
Patel, his wife, and two dedicated employees run the entire operation. They also said they were astonished by how busy they’ve been since adding pizza. They regularly keep fresh pizza and other menu items in the storefront food warmer while filling hundreds of carry-out orders throughout the day.
Highlighted by pizza, the menu also boasts wings, cheese sticks, and sub sandwiches. Patel said that many customers — both new and existing — visited him in recent weeks to buy their breadsticks with cheese sauce and to reminisce about Noble Roman’s memories from the past.
“I have to thank this community and the people in it; they are so good,” Patel said. “I want them to know that I am always here for them and I hope they will continue supporting us. I also have some great employees that work very hard.”
Patel plans on hosting a customer appreciation day in the near future where he will have food specials and donate proceeds to the local fire department.
