The Daviess County High School volleyball program won their fourth straight district game Tuesday night, sweeping Owensboro 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-23 ). The Lady Panthers secured the 1-seed for the 9th District Tournament with the victory.

The Lady Devils (12-7, 1-3 9th district) were consistent all evening, but they couldn’t piece together enough stretches to keep the high-powered Daviess County (13-7, 4-0 9th district).

“We knew going into the match it was going to be extremely competitive,” said Daviess County head coach Tyla Bailey. “I’m proud of the way we finished strong and came away with the win to place us as the first seed.”

Daviess County was led in kills by Josie Newcom with a game-high 15; Adylan Ayer followed with 11. Lexi Owen led the team with a blazing 29 assists and two blocks, while Kayla Clark totaled 10 digs. Owen also led the Lady Panthers in aces with three.

Mia Covington led Owensboro with seven kills, while Maya Joska tallied 13 assists and six blocks. Addie McDaniel recorded four aces for the Lady Devils while Kennedy Thompson put up 11 digs.

The Lady Panthers will look to repeat this season as both 9th district and 3rd Region Champions. They will travel to Leitchfield on Thursday for a rematch of last year’s regional championship game at 7:30.

The Lady Devils will face Henderson County at home on Thursday at 7:30.
