The Daviess County Volleyball Program defeated 9th district rival Apollo 3-0 (25-9, 25-20, 25-13) to remain undefeated in district play on Tuesday night at Luther Beatley Court.

The Lady Panthers used an aggressive, offensive approach to develop early leads in all three sets.

Junior Adylan Ayer led the Lady Panthers (11-7, 3-0 9th district) with 10 kills, followed by classmate Josie Newcom who added nine. Lexi Owen led the team in assists with 23 while Kayla Clark recorded 11 digs.

“I’m pleased with our performance tonight — we came out with a level of energy that we’re going to need to replicate to be competitive in the postseason,” Daviess County head coach Tyla Bailey said. “We will get back to work tomorrow to tidy some things up and begin preparing for Ohio County.”

Apollo (6-11, 0-3) was led by Havanah John with four kills while Ahalia Ramirez recorded nine assists. On the defensive end, Alivia Norris led the E-Gals in blocks with five while Abby Spong totaled 12 digs.

“Daviess County is a great team with a great coach — they have a ton of firepower, and we weren’t able to match it tonight,” said Apollo head coach Mary Howard. “Our district is extremely tough this year and loaded with talent; I’m confident that we will continue to improve.”

Apollo will return to action at home on Thursday when they face the Lady Tigers of Hopkinsville. Daviess County will make the short trek to Ohio County for the battle of KY 231.
