OPD: 1 dead after vehicle accident Saturday, another has potentially fatal injuries

Update (Oct 11.): The motorcyclist who died has been identified as Ronnie D. Ferguson of Owensboro.

One person has died and another sustained potentially life-threatening injuries after a fatal collision between a truck and motorcycle Saturday evening, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to a release, at 4:59 p.m. OPD responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of Southtown Boulevard and Farmview Drive.

Both the operator and passenger of the motorcycle were transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

The operator, a 60-year-old male from Owensboro, died from his injuries after arriving at the hospital, according to OPD. The passenger, a 55-year-old female from Owensboro, sustained potentially life-threatening injuries.

The OPD Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to investigate the collision.

Note: The original story incorrectly said the truck driver died rather then the motorcycle operator.
