University of Kentucky President Dr. Eli Capilouto will be the featured speaker at Thursday’s Rooster Booster.

“The success of our Commonwealth’s economy is directly tied to the health of our higher education institutions,” said Candance Castlen Brake, Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce President and CEO. “As we continue to compete against communities across the country for talent, we must continue to support the innovation and mission of UK and its partners.”

Capilouto became the 12th president of UK on July 1, 2011. Under his leadership, the Commonwealth’s flagship and land grant research university has grown from $2.7 billion to $5.1 billion in total operations and has gained significant momentum in fulfilling its multi-faceted mission of teaching, research, service and health care.

Through partnerships with the private sector, increased philanthropy and effective financial management, UK is self-financing the vast majority of this aggressive infrastructure development.

Under Capilouto’s leadership, the priorities outlined in the Strategic Plan and the innovation of the campus has resulted in historic student success, a dynamic research enterprise, a sophisticated health care operation serving more patients with increasingly complex needs and continued service to the people of Kentucky.

The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce will host its December Rooster Booster breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Owensboro Convention Center. The program is sponsored by German American Bank.

The cost to attend is $12 for Chamber members with reservations, $15 for members with no reservations and $20 for non-members. Reservations include breakfast, which will be served to-go following the event. Guests will be required to wear masks and remain socially distanced while indoors.

Make a reservation and pay online at business.chamber.owensboro.com/events or call the Chamber at 270-926-1860 by noon on Wednesday.
