The 26th season of Friday After 5 kicks off this week, and organizers are excited for a “fresh new look” — including a different layout — as well as the variety of music that fills the schedule.
Opening night this Friday will be Owensboro City Night. There will be a special “Toast to the Sunset,” with Owensboro city officials and special guests from Owensboro’s Sister City Olomouc, Moravia, Czech Republic. Officials will aslo present a check to assist with the Ukrainian efforts.
Other things to find this week: The new Atmos Energy Amphitheater at McConnell Plaza will include several activities. The Owensboro Fine Art Museum will be helping create a community mural. Disc Daddys DJ will be pumping up everyone for the Friday After 5 and Brescia University 5K and Walk.
Each week will include the “Kroger Street Fair,” filled with a lineup of food trucks and vendors, that starts at Frederica Street, lines Veterans Boulevard, and wraps around to St. Elizabeth and Locust streets.
Also new this year is karaoke at VFW Post 696 every Friday night after taps at 6 p.m.
