The Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools is bringing back their annual “Battle of the Backpacks” this Saturday after a two-year hiatus. Funds raised from the event support the foundation’s mission to remove barriers to education for DCPS students and provide educational enhancements that are not available through tax dollars.

A limited number of tickets are available here

The event begins with a 5 p.m. cocktail hour featuring “Three-Hole-Punch” and appetizers before launching into a “nostalgic return to favorite memories of your school-days.” Attendees can walk to “school” or take the school bus from the parking lot to the venue, where they will be greeted by high school mascots and music.

Principal Dr. Tricia Murphy will begin the “School Day” at 6 p.m. with announcements. A school lunch will be served for dinner, including gourmet square pizza, corn, salad, and chocolate mousse (by local chef Matt Weafer) served on school lunch trays.

The event also includes a variety of bourbon that can be bid on with a bourbon pull, an art class with local artist Aaron Kizer, class pictures, and games.
