Owensboro man facing drug trafficking charges in Ohio County

An Owensboro man is facing drug trafficking charges after detectives allege he was found in possession of meth and LSD, according to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release, on Tuesday the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force and the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office observed what appeared to be a drug transaction take place at Hucks in Beaver Dam. 

According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives received intel earlier in the week that directed their attention to 30-year-old Michael Whittaker of Owensboro. 

“Whittaker had been on Pennyrile’s radar for months,” according to the release. “When detectives with both agencies along with the Beaver Dam Police Department surrounded the vehicle, it was found that Whittaker was in possession of approximately 4 ounces of suspected methamphetamine and several dozen doses of LSD (acid).”

Whittaker was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Ohio County Detention Center on the following charges:

  • Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense, Meth
  • Trafficking Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, 1st Offense, LSD
  • Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess

The investigation is still ongoing.
