Three men — ages 18, 19, and 20 — have been arrested following a string of firearm discharge incidents that occurred Thursday afternoon and evening. More than 400 fentanyl pills were seized and charges include trafficking a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
According to a release, at approximately 4:02 p.m. OPD officers responded to the 500 block of Plum Street in reference to a firearm discharge where a residence and vehicle were struck. Officers located multiple shell casings from different caliber firearms, according to OPD. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses, and took over the investigation.
“Detectives and officers responded to numerous other firearm discharges that occurred within the city. The investigation determined that rounds were being fired between two occupied vehicles. Rounds struck multiple residences and vehicles, but no individuals were injured,” according to the release.
Detectives received additional information reporting subjects were observed entering a residence in the 900 block of Holly Avenue while armed. A vehicle believed to be involved in the incidents was located nearby, officials said.
OPD officers, along with the assistance of the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, established a perimeter around the residence while a search warrant was obtained for the residence and vehicle. Multiple subjects exited the residence without incident, according to the release.
The OPD Emergency Response Team, Hazardous Devices Unit, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unit responded to the scene. The search warrant was executed and the residence was cleared resulting in the seizure of more than 400 fentanyl pills, two firearms, and more than $4,000 in currency.
The below subjects, all Owensboro residents, were arrested and are currently lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center. OPD listed their charges as follows:
A’Dyn Buckner (19 years old):
- Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (3 Counts)
- Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Offense (Carfentanil or Fentanyl Derivatives) (Enhancement)
- Trafficking Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of School
Czarek Willinger (18 years old):
- Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Offense (Carfentanil or Fentanyl Derivatives) (Enhancement)
- Trafficking Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of School
Masaan Payne (20 years old):
- Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Offense (Carfentanil or Fentanyl Derivatives) (Enhancement)
- Trafficking Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of School (Enhancement)
- Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree – Drug Unspecified
- Possession of Marijuana
