A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a car that caused a three-vehicle accident on the bypass near the Natcher Parkway, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. Two other people were also injured.

According to DCSO, the accident occurred in the 1700 block of bypass between U.S. 231 and the Natcher exit just before 4 p.m.

A passenger car and Jeep were both traveling eastbound when the car sideswiped the Jeep and sent them both toward the median, according to DCSO. Officials said the Jeep regained control but the car went into the median and hit a pedestrian before overcorrecting and rolling the vehicle.

The car then reportedly exited the median “in the air” and struck a pickup truck traveling westbound.

The pedestrian was listed as being in critical condition and was transported to a Louisville hospital, while the two occupants of the passenger car were also transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for serious injuries.

DCSO was assisted by the Daviess County Public Schools Police, who were the first on scene and began to render aid. Daviess County and Masonville fired departments also assisted, along with AMR ambulance.
