A man was arrested in Owensboro on Tuesday for a shooting that occurred in Henderson, according to area law enforcement. The suspect is facing a charge of attempted murder.

The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred May 13 at the Holiday Motel in Henderson. The Henderson Police Department announced that the suspect, 31-year-old Dasean Saunders, was arrested Tuesday.

According to multiple Evansville news outlets, HPD responded to the motel shortly after 9 p.m. for a reported shooting. HPD reportedly found a man in the parking lot of the motel with a gunshot wound in his chest. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was described as being in critical but stable condition Saturday night.

Documents show Saunders resides in the 600 block of Harding Avenue in Henderson. During the investigation, a tip was received that he was staying at a motel in Owensboro, according to Daviess County Sheriff Brad Youngman. Saunders was arrested in the 1300 block of West 2nd Street in Owensboro just before 3 p.m. Tuesday. Youngman said the room was surrounded and the suspect was ordered to come out and complied.

Saunders was located as a result of a joint operation of the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force, DCSO, and Kentucky State Police. Saunders was been lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center, and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning in Henderson District Court.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Henderson Police Department at 270-831-1295.
