The Country Ham Restaurant this weekend is closing after 74 years, according to a social media post from the owner.
The Country Ham Restaurant, located at 5421 U.S. 60 West, has been a staple for food and drinks in the community for nearly nine decades, though it didn’t always operate by the same name.
Janice Kennedy purchased the establishment in 2009. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, she said she has decided to close the business after 14 years.
“I’m making this post today with a heavy heart,” Kennedy wrote. “After 74 years, this will be The Country Ham’s last week.”
The restaurant will remain open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. It will open from 4-8 p.m. for dinner on Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for breakfast on Sunday.
“I’ve had The Country Ham for 14 years and met many wonderful people. Please continue to support small businesses,” she said. “They need you now more than ever. Thank you, everyone, for all the support you have given us through the years.”
Kennedy cited rising food costs since the pandemic as a primary contributor to the closure.
