A total of 7 individuals working or living in local motels and hotels have been arrested on meth trafficking charges following an extensive undercover investigation, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
According to DCSO, the investigation started in response to several drug trafficking complaints received from the community. The operation included several undercover controlled buys of methamphetamine from multiple suspects living or working in Owensboro motels and hotels, according to a release.
Three search warrants were executed by DCSO on Tuesday, resulting in 7 arrests.
The first occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. at the Colonel House Motel (1829 Triplett Street). According to DCSO, motel maintenance personnel Ronald Burroughs and William “Billy” Carmen as well as motel residents John Burroughs and Meghan Bratcher were arrested.
“During the search and arrests, investigators seized evidence of an ongoing drug trafficking operation including marijuana, synthetic marijuana (spice), methamphetamine, baggies, U.S. currency, scales, paraphernalia, a vehicle, and surveillance equipment,” according to the release.
The second search occurred at approximately 1 p.m. at the Owensboro Days Inn (3720 New Hartford Road) and resulted in the arrest of Jerrod Eleazer, according to DCSO.
“Investigators seized evidence of an ongoing drug trafficking operation including marijuana, synthetic marijuana, baggies of amphetamine pills, and a handgun. Eleazer is a convicted felon and is prohibited by law from possessing firearms,” the release reads.
At approximately 2 p.m., DCSO located Jericho Young and Tiffany Dukes at Moreland Park in the 1200 block of Hickman Avenue in Owensboro, according to the release.
“Both subjects were being sought for their involvement in trafficking methamphetamine from area hotels where they were living and were in possession of simulated methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana at the time of their arrests,” the release reads.
All 7 individuals were transported to the Daviess County Detention Center. DCSO reported that additional charges and additional arrests in this investigation are anticipated.
