Editor’s Note: An earlier version of the story reported the incorrect date for the 2024 STAND Against Child Abuse event. The story has now been edited to reflect the proper date.

The Community Collaboration for Children (CCC) invites local businesses and organizations to participate in the 2024 STAND Against Child Abuse. Scheduled for Friday, April 12, the event will run from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Kentucky Wesleyan College.

The event’s primary objective is to raise awareness about child abuse prevention.

The STAND brings together dozens of community partners interested in the well-being of children and families. The event pairs education and information with family fun, like inflatables and a petting zoo.

The organization asks participating organizations to provide attendees with family-friendly activities and information about their services. Roughly 350 families attend the STAND each year.

“We are very grateful to our partner agencies who host booths at the STAND and provide essential information and resources to families,” says GRADD CCC Program Administrator Maria Shyver. “Organizations that participate in the STANcanto engage directly with the community and educate families about the resources they offer.”

This initiative, sponsored by GRADD’s Community Collaboration for Children (CCC) Regional Network and the Kentucky Cabinet for Health & Family Services Department for Community Based Services (DCBS), is held each year in April in conjunction with Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Interested organizations can sign up to participate here. STAND Against Child Abuse t-shirts are available for purchase through February 15th here.

The proceeds are used to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect prevention in the community.
