An Owensboro man has been arrested following a firearm discharge that occurred Friday morning inside a business on Triplett Street, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
According to OPD, at 9:08 a.m. officers responded to 1512 Triplett Street, home to All in One Auto Repair, in reference to a firearm discharge. Officers determined Shane Nitman, 38, fired a gun inside the business before leaving, according to a release.
The release says officers and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division made contact with Nitman at a residence in the 100 block of Gilmour Court and recovered the firearm in a garage in the 1900 block of Chesterfield Drive. The recovered firearm was revealed to be a stolen firearm, OPD said.
According to OPD, Nitman was taken to the station for questioning, subsequently arrested, and transported to the Daviess County Detention Center on the following charges:
• Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon
• Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)
• Tampering with Physical Evidence
• Discharging Weapons in City Limits
Nitman has previously been charged with the following charges, according to OPD:
• Parole Violation
• Probation Violation (For Felony Offense) (2 Counts)
• Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree – 1st Offense (Less than 2 Grams Methamphetamine)
• Trafficking in Marijuana (Less than 8 Ounces) – 1st Offense
• Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)
• Possession of Controlled Substance, 1st Degree – 1st Offense (Cocaine)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Assault, 3rd Degree (EMS, Fire, Rescue Squad)
• Assault, 4th Degree (Domestic Violence) Minor Injury
• Theft from a Building (2 Counts)
