The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) found and arrested the juvenile involved in the shooting on Sunday at 2 a.m. near the Owensboro Bridge. Because the incident transpired across the river, the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) was leading the investigation with assistance from Indiana State Police.

At 7:30 a.m. the same morning, SCSO notified DCSO about the investigation and indicated that a victim had been shot and seriously injured, and the suspect had fled the scene. They requested DCSO assistance in locating the suspect.

According to a release, DCSO’s patrol division immediately began searching several areas and eventually located the suspect at 12:30 p.m. at the 800 block of Danberry Street in Owensboro. They took him into custody without any incidents and transported him to the Daviess County Courthouse, where Indiana State Police and SCSO detectives questioned him.

Following the interview, the suspect was ordered by the Court Designated Worker’s Office to be held on Indiana charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, and criminal recklessness with a firearm.

DCSO transported the suspect to the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

Per KRS, the juvenile’s identity will not be disclosed until authorized by the court system. The Indiana State Police and Spencer County Sheriff’s Office are investigating this case.
