OPD: Arrest made following firearm discharge that left 1 injured on Aug. 15

An arrest has been made in the firearm discharge investigation following where one person sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on August 15, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

The incident occurred in the 1200 block West 5th Street. According to OPD, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division were able to identify a suspect and get an arrest warrant that was served on August 25.

Patrol officers arrested Desmond Griffith, 26, Owensboro. He was lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center and charged with the following, according to OPD:

  • Assault – 2nd degree
  • Trafficking in a Controlled Substance – 1st degree, 1st offense (> or = to 4 grams cocaine)
  • Trafficking in Marijuana – 1st offense (less than 8 ounces)
  • Drug Paraphernalia
