Facing tough competition at Whitefield Academy’s Lady Cats Tournament, the E-Gals finished 4-1 behind Abie Butterworths team-high 31 kills and 14 serving aces. Apollo didn’t drop a set in any of their wins, sweeping Frankfort, Whitefield Academy, Meade County, and Moore. Their loss came against Christian Academy of Louisville 2-0 (15-25, 22-25).
Jessie Pate was the linchpin of the serve receive, recording 47 digs, while Maddi Roberts led the team in assists with 45.
“We had a great day at a tough tournament,” Apollo head coach Mary Howard said. “Our girls really stepped it up defensively throughout the day as we played some teams with powerful hitters. The girls also maintained a high level of focus on serve receives as well. We are all very proud of the effort they gave all day long.”
