Daviess County was one of 12 counties randomly selected for a 2024 post-general election audit by Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman. The inquiries will be conducted by the AG’s Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to determine if any irregularities took place during the general election.

State law requires the Office of the Attorney General to administer post-election inquiries in no fewer than 12 counties, which are randomly selected within 20 days of the general election. The 12 counties randomly selected Wednesday are: Calloway, Jefferson, Daviess, Jessamine, Boyle, Barren, Warren, Campbell, Metcalfe, Edmonson, Lincoln, and Trigg.

“The Attorney General’s Office is committed to ensuring Kentucky’s elections are free, fair, and secure,” Coleman said in a release. “Through the collaborative efforts of our county clerks, election officials, and law enforcement, Kentuckians can rest assured that the integrity of our elections is vigorously protected.”

After completing independent investigations in each of the 12 counties, the Attorney General’s office will present its findings to grand juries in the selected counties.

The Attorney General’s Office monitors potential election law violations throughout the year through the Election Fraud Hotline.

According to a release from Coleman’s office, the hotline received more than 700 messages, including nearly 350 on Election Day.

Hotline complaints related to the November 2024 General Election can be viewed here. The description of the type of complaint received is based only on information initially provided by the complainant. It does not indicate that the complaint was substantiated.

According to the hotline website, there were a total of 10 complaints in Daviess County. Pre-election, there were two complaints about possible campaign violations and five about potential electioneering. There were an additional three complaints on election day regarding possible electioneering. There were no complaints post-election day in Daviess County.

Daviess County was also randomly selected for a post-election audit in 2022 and 2020.
