A 20-year-old Owensboro man is facing several charges for a shooting that injured a female Tuesday evening, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
According to OPD, officers responded to the 900 block of East 5th Street for a report of a shooting in which a bullet struck an adult female inside the residence at the location.
The victim was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to OPD.
Information gathered at the scene led officers to identify a potential suspect and vehicle connected to the incident, according to a release. Detectives located the suspect vehicle at a residence on Westerfield Drive.
According to OPD, initial attempts by officers on the scene to contact the occupants of the home resulted in some of the occupants exiting the residence, but the suspect remained inside.
“Given the use of a deadly weapon, the Owensboro Police Department activated its Emergency Response Team and Hostage Negotiation Team to assist. After the arrival of these specialized units, another subject exited and a search warrant was executed in which the suspect was located inside the residence and taken into custody without further incident,” according to OPD.
At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives identified Scott Kenady as the suspect responsible for the shooting.
Kenady was arrested and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on the following charges, according to OPD:
• Assault, 2nd Degree
• Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree – 2 counts
• Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree
• Tampering with Physical Evidence
