It was opening night for many of our coverage school’s boys’ basketball teams, with Daviess County emerging victorious, while Apollo and Owensboro Catholic fell short.
Central Hardin 64, Apollo 56
Luke Jarboe finished with three threes to go along with his team-high 15 points as the Eagles dropped their season opener to Central Hardin 64-56. Landon Henning and Tate Powers scored 11 points each as Kobe Kelly added 10.
“I thought we did some good things offensively,” Apollo head coach Ryne Tinsley said. “Central Hardin is one of the best shooting teams I have ever faced as a high school coach.”
Daviess County 50, Henderson County 48
DeAaron Watkins scored 11 of his team-high 17 points in the second half to help fuel the Panthers to a 50-48 win over Henderson County. Jaxon Brown added 13 points including a team-high three threes, while Jonathan Moss was third on the team in scoring with nine points.
“We battled a tough veteran team,” Daviess County head coach Neil Hayden said. “And we were able to get the stops at the end that were needed to win.”
Greenwood 56, Owensboro Catholic 34
Luke Beickman led the Aces with a team-high 13 points as they fell to Greenwood 56-34. Solly Smith added 12 points, while Dylan Hagan (5), Jake Murphy (3), and Logan Hamilton (1) rounded out the teams scoring.
