Trinity won their first game of the season, while Apollo held off Marion County at home. In other games, Daviess County fell short on the road.

Apollo 45, Marion County 42

Tate Powers led the Eagles with 15 points including three threes to power them past Marion County 45-42. Landon Henning finished second on the team in scoring with 12 points, while all six of Luke Jarboe’s points came in the second half.

“It was a great win on the road,” Apollo head coach Ryne Tinsley said. “Our kids found a way after an emotional game last night and the defense was rock solid.”

Newport 66, Daviess County 61

Jonathan Moss led the way for Daviess County with 27 points, five rebounds, and four assists, but they fell down the stretch to Newport 66-61. After today, Moss has reached the 1,000-point milestone. DeAaron Watkins finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Joe Varble added six points and three rebounds.

“We got off to a slow start, but after we settled in, we played well,” Daviess County head coach Neil Hayden said. “I’m disappointed we lost, but we battled with one of the best teams in the state.”

Trinity 47, Todd County Central 35

Ian Roby hit three threes to go along with his team-high 11 points to help Trinity win their first game of the season. The trio Hayden Aull, Tate Howard, and Grant Howard all scored 10 points, while Will Hernandez and Bransen Howard each added three points.

“First win of the season,” Trinity head coach Nathan West said. “Not as pretty as I would have liked, but I am seeing progress each and every game. I’m proud of the way we played today.”
