A 61-year-old Panther man has been arrested on meth and gun charges following a drug task force investigation, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
A release from DCSO says a search warrant was executed on November 26 at the home of Bobby Darrell Wright in the 5400 block of KY 1514 in Panther as part of a narcotics investigation.
Wright became a suspect based on information received by the community, according to DCSO.
“During the last 4 months, investigators have conducted controlled buys of approximately 1.5 lbs. of methamphetamine from Wright. Wright was not home during the execution of the search warrant, however, detectives located evidence of an ongoing drug trafficking operation including methamphetamine, scales, pipes with residue, a loaded handgun, and U.S. currency,” according to the release.
Wright has prior felony convictions and is prohibited from possessing firearms. He was located on November 27 in possession of methamphetamine, two additional handguns, and a rifle, according to DCSO.
He was arrested and taken to the Daviess County Detention Center with the following charges:
- Trafficking Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine) (3 Counts)
- Trafficking Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 2nd Offense (While Armed) (2 Counts)
- Possession of Marijuana (While Armed) (1 Count)
- Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess (While Armed) (1 Count)
- Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon (2 Counts)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (1 Count)
The investigation was a joint effort by the DCSO Special Investigations and General Investigations units and Patrol Division, as well as the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations West, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Owensboro High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.
