Daviess County was lights out from deep to take down McLean County, while Apollo lost to South Spencer.
South Spencer (Rockport), IN 53, Apollo 21
Apollo looked to get everyone involved, as seven different players scored as they fell short to South Spencer 53-21. Emersyn Bullington and Jessica Lee led the team in scoring with five points each, while LaShay Vera added two points, six rebounds, and two steals. Mattingly Taylor recorded four points to go along with her six rebounds.
Apollo is off till Friday when they travel to Campbellsville for a 2:30 tip-off.
Daviess County 74, McLean County 29
Zoey Beehn was a perfect 3-3 from deep, adding to her team-high 24 points as the Lady Panthers cruised to a 74-29 win over McLean County. Beehn also added nine rebounds and four blocks, while Kennedy Lane finished with 19 points on 6-9 shooting while grabbing four rebounds and blocking a shot.
“We shot the ball really well and went 13-18 from three-point line,” Daviess County head coach Natalie Payne said. “We moved the ball and made the “one more” pass. We did a really good job of executing in the half-court.”
For the Lady Cougars, Karlee Floyd finished with 24 points, 13 of which came in the second half. Ava Lannum and Danielle Reynolds each added two points, while
“We went up against a very talented team,” McLean County head coach Eli Ellis said. “We had a tough time staying in front of them and once we started helping, they picked us apart. We learned a lot from playing them and now it’s time to get back to work on some things.”
