The remains of a body found on the bank of the Ohio River on October 30 belong to a man who was missing for nearly a month, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

OPD announced on December 4 that the Daviess County Coroner’s Office identified the remains as those of Michael Daugherty, Sr., who was last seen in Owensboro on October 2. The autopsy report revealed no signs of trauma and the investigation has determined there is no evidence of foul play, according to OPD.

OPD opened the death investigation after a body “in the advanced stages of decomposition” was found on the bank of the Ohio River at approximately 4:30 p.m. on October 30, when patrol officers responded to English Park for an unrelated call for service. While completing this call, a man walking his dog approached the officers and told them he had found a body along the river bank nearby, according to OPD.

Officers located a deceased male individual in a nearby wooded area. Detectives with the Owensboro Police Criminal Investigation Division and the Daviess County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
