Fall Break will come one week later than usual next year for Owensboro Public Schools, matching a move by Daviess County Public Schools. The proposed 2025-26 academic calendar largely matches DCPS, but does include an earlier start date.

The OPS Board of Education discussed the proposed calendar during their luncheon on Thursday, but they will not vote on it until their regular meeting later this month.

The OPS proposed calendar has Fall Break running from October 13-17, 2025, identical to DCPS.

One difference is the proposed calendar for OPS calls for students to start school on August 7, 2025, while the calendar already approved by DCPS has their students starting on August 12. The final day for students in both districts will be May 15, 2026.

For both districts, Christmas Break will remain largely unchanged, spanning December 22, 2025, to January 2, 2026, with students returning on Monday, January 5. Spring Break is slated for April 6-10.
