Nearly 300 people gathered in Owensboro on Saturday for the “Hands Off” Mass Mobilization Rally. The event was originally scheduled for April 5 in conjunction with rallies across the country as part of a nationwide movement protesting actions by President Donald Trump’s administration and Elon Musk. However, flooding and severe weather caused the local event to be postponed.

Organized by Indivisible Owensboro alongside groups including NAACP Owensboro, Sierra Club, Loud Women, and the Coalition for an Inclusive Daviess County, the local rally lined the sidewalk in the 2600 block of Frederica Street, across from Kroger. Participants voiced concerns about what they said were threats to Medicaid, Social Security, reproductive healthcare, environmental protections, and democratic institutions.

One citizen stood on the other side of the street, saying he respected the opinions of those participating in the rally but disagreed with their claims.
