A vehicle was left with multiple bullet holes after a firearm was discharged in the 2600 block of Heartland Greens Pointe on June 17, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

OPD reported that patrol officers responded to a call about gunfire shortly after 8 p.m. When they arrived, they found a disabled vehicle with two uninjured female occupants inside.

According to statements from the victims and witnesses, two unidentified males were also inside the vehicle at the time but fled on foot before officers arrived. Officers found multiple shell casings in a nearby yard and confirmed that the vehicle had sustained several bullet holes, police said.

Investigators said the shooting stemmed from a brief exchange between the people in the vehicle and a male pedestrian. After the pedestrian walked away, the vehicle turned around to re-approach him, at which point the man opened fire, disabling the vehicle before fleeing on foot, according to OPD.

Detectives are working with the two female victims to identify the two male occupants and the suspect. Anyone with video surveillance or information is asked to call OPD at 270-687-8888 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484.
