DCSO: Two arrested after high-speed pursuit; meth, marijuana found in vehicle

Two men were arrested early Saturday morning following a high-speed pursuit and foot chase that began east of Owensboro and ended in a crash, according to a release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

DCSO reported that around 2 a.m. on July 20, a 3rd Platoon Patrol Deputy observed a Dodge Charger swerving outside lane boundaries and showing signs of possible intoxicated driving on KY 144 near Daniels Lane. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but according to the release, the vehicle initially pulled over before fleeing at a high rate of speed.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies pursued the Charger as it traveled eastbound on KY 144, reaching speeds of 90-100 mph. At the intersection of KY 144 and Jones Road, the vehicle attempted to turn, lost control, and crashed into a ditch, disabling the vehicle.

According to the release, both the driver and passenger exited the vehicle. The driver fled on foot but was apprehended in the backyard of a nearby residence after a brief foot pursuit. DCSO stated the driver was determined to be under the influence.

The Sheriff’s Office said both suspects were taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for medical clearance before being transported to the Daviess County Detention Center. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located and seized several baggies of methamphetamine, marijuana, a half-full liquor bottle, and digital scales. All items were logged into evidence at DCSO.

According to the release, the driver was identified as 22-year-old Brodi D. Pollard of the 1500 block of Hathaway Street in Owensboro. He faces the following charges:

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance (Aggravated)
  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  • Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree (Police Officer)
  • Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree
  • Reckless Driving
  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (On Foot)
  • Criminal Trespass, 3rd Degree
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident / Failure to Render Aid
  • Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage Container in a Motor Vehicle
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The passenger, identified by DCSO as 41-year-old Randy T. Barnes of the 1100 block of W. Aprilwoods Circle in Memphis, Tennessee, was charged with Failure to Appear in Daviess County Circuit Court.
