Local native Jason Koger will be the keynote speaker at Lighthouse Recovery Program’s annual Beacon of Hope fundraiser and awards banquet.

The event it Tuesday at Owensboro Christian Church.

Lighthouse Recovery is a peer-driven community for men and women focused on substance misuse recovery. According to a release, since opening in 2001, Lighthouse has provided safe housing, 12-step programs, life skills training, and connections to community partners to help individuals change their environment, build stability, and achieve long-term sobriety.

Koger, a double amputee who lost both arms in an accident in 2008, has shared his journey of resilience across the nation.

“Everyone goes through personal struggles, whether it be an accident, losses like a divorce or loved one, or battling addiction. When an individual is surrounded with support and love, it gives them a better chance at success,” Koger said.

The evening will also feature the presentation of the Beacon of Light Awards, which recognize community members who have played a vital role in helping others achieve recovery. Lighthouse leaders said recovery is not accomplished alone but through the collective efforts of partners, volunteers, donors, and service providers.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Owensboro Christian Church Community Center. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the door or by contacting Executive Director Shawna Moore at [email protected]

Proceeds will support Lighthouse Recovery’s mission to help men and women build new lives in sobriety with tools and resources for lasting success.
