An Owensboro Public Schools teacher who came under review for social media comments about the death of Charlie Kirk has resigned.
A district official confirmed the resignation on Wednesday afternoon.
As previously reported by Owensboro Times, the teacher allegedly made multiple comments on Facebook, including, “His own words created this…No one else. Not the shooter, not the gun. His own words.”
The comments drew criticism online and prompted OPS to cite policies related to “disrupting the educational process” as part of their review.
The district had not indicated what disciplinary action might follow, but the teacher stepped down prior to any potential action.
