Looking to bounce back after stumbling against Owensboro Catholic, McLean County’s run game exploded for six rushing touchdowns, beating Ohio County 44-7.
The Cougars struck early and often in the first half, with Trokoby Gill scoring from 28 and 25 yards out. Riley Walker ripped off a 48 yard touchdown run and Hunter Stratton bounced into the endzone from four yards out. Jackson Reynolds also lived in the backfield, recording a pair of sacks as the Cougars took a 28-0 lead into halftime.
Ohio County scored to start the third quarter, but McLean County immediately responded. Stratton broke free for a 70-yard touchdown and Walker punched in the two point attempt. Reynolds later blocked a Eagles punt attempt, which was recovered by Ervin Garcia-Rodriguez.
A few plays later, Walker scored from eight yards out and Connor Ward ran in the two point attempt.
Finishing the season 5-5, the Cougars turn their attention to the playoffs, as they travel to Crittenden County next Friday.
“It was good for our seniors to go out with a win to end the regular season,” McLean County Head Coach Zach Wagner said. “We are still banged up, so we had a lot of reserves get quality reps.”
