For the first time since dance became a KHSAA-affiliated sport, Daviess County will be hosting the upcoming region competition for both regions one and two on Nov. 9th. Broken into two sessions, doors will open at 11 am with the region one competition starting at noon in the school’s main gym. The doors will once again open up again at 4 pm with the region two competition starting 30 minutes after.
“I’m super excited, and this will be a great thing for Daviess County and the entire community to be able to come local and watch it,” Daviess County Head Coach Debbie Connor said. “It hasn’t been in Owensboro at all yet since KHSAA has brought dance on as a sport. I’m super excited about getting the community to come see what the local teams do.”
A year ago, Lady Panthers won Hip Hop Small and finished second in Game Day, and this season they have moved up a size to Large Varsity Hip Hop and will once again be competing in Game Day. Daviess County’s roster has nearly doubled, from 14 athletes a year ago to 27.
“My goal is to get them out there on the floor in front of a crowd and let them showcase what they have worked so hard on all summer long,” Connor said. “So, they can show their strengths and talents to the community. They have such a great time together, and this is what we have worked hard for all summer. I am just ready for them to showcase it.”
