McLean County had no answer for Hancock County’s defense and rushing attack, falling on the road 47-6.

The Hornets jumped out to an early 7-0 lead thanks to Kyle Anderson bruising his way into the endzone. Shortly before the first quarter ended, McLean County cut the lead to one thanks to Connor Ward scampering into the endzone.

The Hornets were able to take a 26-6 lead into halftime after a Jack Roberts pick six and Brady Eubanks ran for a touchdown and connected with Christian Yanez for another.

In the third quarter, Anderson forced a fumble, which was later punched into the endzone by Kalab Helms. About eight minutes later, Grant Smith ran in Hanock County’s fourth rushing touchdown to push the lead to 40-6.

The fourth quarter saw Smith recover a fumble, the team’s third turnover of the night, setting up Lawson Ward’s rushing touchdown for the exclamation point.

Off next week due to Fall Break, the Hornets return on Oct. 24 when they host Fort Knox. McLean County is back in action next week, a home match against Fort Knox.
