Owensboro Catholic closed out the regular season in dominant fashion Friday night, rolling to a 56-6 win over Elizabethtown behind a standout performance from quarterback Dre’mail Carothers.
Carothers accounted for multiple touchdowns through the air and on the ground, helping the Aces jump out to a 28-6 lead early in the second quarter.
He opened the scoring with a scramble into the end zone, then connected with Hudson Ebelhar for a 5-yard touchdown and later hit Camron Woodward twice for scores — first from 29 yards and then from 59 yards out.
Xavier Maddox added a touchdown in the first half, while Edge broke free on a screen pass and took it 40 yards to the house. Luke Thomas capped the scoring with a touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter.
Head coach Jason Morris praised the group’s effort and leadership.
“I’m really proud of our seniors,” Morris said. “It was great to have a performance like this on senior night. They deserved to celebrate a great performance in all areas of the game. Carothers was special tonight.”
The Aces improved to 9-1 on the season and will host Fort Campbell next Friday in the opening round of the 2025 Class 2A state football playoffs.
