Owensboro Municipal Utilities is once again lighting up the season with its annual Holiday Lighting Contest, encouraging customers to celebrate the festive spirit with creative and colorful outdoor displays.
The contest is open to OMU customers who reside within the Owensboro city limits. Homeowners may enter their own display or be nominated by neighbors who appreciate their efforts to brighten the community. Entries will be judged on originality, use of light, color, design, and movement.
“This contest is a fun way to bring the community together and showcase the creativity and holiday cheer of our residents,” OMU officials said.
The winner will receive a $250 OMU gift certificate, a lighted yard sign recognizing their achievement, and will be honored by both the Owensboro City Commission and the Owensboro Utility Commission.
Entries must be submitted by 4 p.m. on December 4. Judging will take place December 7-8.
