Shorthanded over the weekend, Apollo wrestling held their own, finishing third at the King of Bluegrass meet at Louisville Fairdale. Jaxton Brown finished first for his weight class, upsetting the seventh-ranked kid in the state 17-5.
Noah Pendley finished second, while Kevin Lopez was third, and Brayden Mattingly and Jaiden Carver were fourth in their respective weight classes.
“It’s a tough tournament, and I am proud of how our kids fought,” Apollo Head Coach Courtney Johns said. “We are a tough team, and we still haven’t wrestled yet with our full lineup, but I feel we will be a tough team to beat in the area.”
