Vicki Chandler Quisenberry has announced that she will run for the Kentucky State Senate in District 8, entering the race with a background in nonprofit leadership and small business development.
Quisenberry, 64, said she was motivated to run after seeing how collaboration can generate solutions to challenges in education, housing, and small-business support.
“I am running because I’ve seen what’s possible when people from different backgrounds come together to solve critical issues,” Quisenberry said. “Strong communities succeed when leaders listen, collaborate, and act.”
Quisenberry previously served as executive director of the Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools, where she worked with teachers, families, and community partners. During her tenure, she said, she supported efforts aimed at reducing barriers to student success, including homelessness among high school students.
She also co-owns The JDQ Building with her husband, Tab. The business provides office and development space for entrepreneurs and companies.
“Small businesses are the backbone of every successful local economy,” she said.
Quisenberry said that if elected, she will prioritize bipartisan efforts aimed at improving education, supporting small businesses, promoting economic development, and addressing housing needs. She said she is creating advisory panels representing Daviess, Hancock, and McLean counties to help shape policy discussions.
Quisenberry is a graduate of Apollo High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in computer systems management and a master of business administration from Murray State University. She and her husband have four adult children and three grandchildren, with a fourth expected.
