A man is facing multiple felony charges after deputies say he threatened to shoot a woman and pointed the handgun at others during a disturbance Sunday night in Utica, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

According to DCSO, deputies responded at approximately 7:53 p.m. on March 29 to the 10800 block of Mill Street for a reported disturbance. Authorities said witnesses told deputies that a man produced a handgun during an argument, threatened to shoot a female, and pointed the weapon at several other people at the scene.

The female left the area and went to another residence, where deputies met with her, took her statement, and reviewed video of the altercation, according to DCSO.

DCSO said that deputies later located the suspect — identified as Austin Clay Henson, 24, of the 400 block of Center Street in Owensboro — at Walmart on Frederica Street. Authorities said that after being advised of his Miranda rights, Henson told deputies he had gone to Mill Street to visit family but encountered someone “with whom he had an ongoing dispute.”

Henson said he “lost it” when he saw the individual and admitted his involvement in the altercation, also confirming the firearm seen in the video was real, according to DCSO.

Authorities said deputies located a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun in Henson’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Henson was arrested and taken to the Daviess County Detention Center. According to DCSO, he was charged with two counts each of first-degree wanton endangerment (firearm) and third-degree terroristic threatening.
