Two veteran rock bands will share the stage this summer when Kansas and 38 Special bring a co-headlining tour stop to the Beaver Dam Amphitheater.

The concert is scheduled for July 17 as part of the venue’s First United Bank & Trust Concert Series.

Presale tickets will be available from 10 a.m. March 11 through 10 p.m. March 12 for fans who sign up for a password through the amphitheater’s website. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. March 13.

Venue officials said the show will bring together two bands with long-running careers in American rock music.

“This is one of those shows that classic rock fans circle on the calendar immediately,” said Heath Eric, president and CEO of The Eric Group, the venue’s management company. “You’re talking about two legendary bands whose music has stood the test of time. Kansas and 38 Special have produced some of the most recognizable rock songs ever recorded, and bringing them together for one night at Beaver Dam Amphitheater is going to create an incredible atmosphere.”

Kansas, formed in Topeka, Kansas, released its debut album in 1974 and has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. The band’s catalog includes 16 studio albums and multiple platinum and multi-platinum releases, including Leftoverture and Point of Know Return.

The group is known for songs such as “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind.” The release said “Carry On Wayward Son” remains among the most-played songs in the format, while “Dust in the Wind” has been broadcast millions of times on radio stations worldwide.

Kansas currently includes vocalist and keyboardist Ronnie Platt, keyboardist Tom Brislin, guitarists Zak Rizvi and Scott Bernard, violinist and guitarist Joe Deninzon, bassist Dan McGowan, original guitarist Richard Williams, and original drummer Phil Ehart, with Eric Holmquist performing on drums while Ehart recovers from a heart attack.

38 Special, formed in 1974 in Florida, has sold more than 20 million albums and built a reputation as a touring southern rock band. The group’s hits include “Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up in You,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” and “Second Chance.”

The band’s current lineup includes founding member and lead vocalist and guitarist Don Barnes, keyboardist Bobby Capps, drummer Gary Moffatt, bassist Barry Dunaway, and guitarist Jerry Riggs.
