Owensboro Community & Technical College’s Workforce Solutions division will host two upcoming OSHA 10 training courses aimed at helping workers earn certification while strengthening workplace safety awareness.
Both courses will be held at OCTC’s main campus at 1501 Frederica Street and will be led by veteran safety professional Mark Dorth.
The OSHA 10 General Industry Safety course is scheduled for March 30-31 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The training is designed for workers in fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, and warehousing, focusing on how to recognize and prevent common workplace hazards.
Topics will include hazard communication, walking-working surfaces, emergency action plans, personal protective equipment, and worker rights and employer responsibilities.
A second course, OSHA 10 Construction Safety, will take place April 6-7 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This training focuses on jobsite safety standards specific to construction environments, including fall protection, electrical safety, scaffolding and ladder safety, and struck-by or caught-in hazards.
Both courses are intended to provide practical knowledge that can help reduce workplace incidents and improve overall safety performance.
Dorth, who will lead both sessions, brings 46 years of experience in occupational safety. He holds associate degrees in Occupational Safety & Health and Fire Science Technology, along with a bachelor’s degree in Adult Psychology from Western Kentucky University. He is also certified through the American Red Cross to teach First Aid, CPR, and AED.
