A 40-year-old man has been arrested after police investigated reports of “a partially unclothed male” attempting to gain entry into a residence this week, authorities say. Police are asking anyone who believes the man may have tried to enter their home to contact law enforcement.

According to the Owensboro Police Department, the Criminal Investigations Division began to investigate reports earlier this week of “a partially unclothed male” attempting to enter a residence in the 600 block of Stableford Circle.

Authorities said that on Friday morning, 40-year-old John Hawkins III, formerly of Harrodsburg, KY, was identified as the suspect, with assistance from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

OPD said Hawkins was located at his current place of residence in the 4300 block of Veach Road, where he was interviewed by detectives and subsequently charged with one count of second-degree attempted burglary. Hawkins was lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.

OPD thanked residents who provided video evidence of the suspect and encouraged anyone who may believe Hawkins attempted to enter their homes to contact Detective Chad Gilbert at 270-687-8885.
