Sierra, an outdoor-focused retailer, is set to open in Owensboro next month.

The store is scheduled to open at 8 a.m. on May 30 and will be located at 2452 Calumet Trace, directly beside Old Navy in Gateway Commons.

The store will offer brand-name apparel, footwear, and gear for activities ranging from hiking and running to everyday wear, with company officials saying items are typically priced 20-60% below department and specialty store prices.

“We are excited to bring Sierra to the amazing Owensboro community,” said Jill Tully, VP of Marketing at Sierra. “We believe being active can look different for everyone. At Sierra, we celebrate the many ways people move in their everyday lives — from outdoor adventures to daily routines. As the only off-price retailer dedicated to active and outdoor, we’re committed to making top brands and quality gear attainable at great value, so shoppers can feel confident and ready, no matter how they choose to move.”

Grand opening festivities will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Sierra-branded giveaways, and a scavenger hunt featuring hidden hang-tags throughout the store with gift cards as prizes.

As part of the opening, Sierra plans to donate $10,000 to a local charity. The company is also hiring both full- and part-time associates. More information about employment opportunities is available at the company’s website, jobs.tjx.com.
